From January 20–24, 2025, Fort Albany St. Anne’s Residential School Survivors will appear in a virtual hearing before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice for the Metatawabin RFD #2 case.

The National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation (NCTR) has shared 48 new St. Anne’s Residential School records from 1960–1972 with the Nee Kee Wa Nan Initiative. These documents deepen our understanding of St. Anne’s history, supporting truth-finding, Survivor testimony, and community healing.
In October and November, the Healing Team consistently supported the Fort Albany community, with members Agatch Nakogee, Celine Sutherland, Theresa Sutherland, and Carmen Edwards offering vital mental health and healing services.
Healing Team member Celine Sutherland provided mental health support in Fort Albany from November 25–30, hosting networking sessions, home visits, and group activities to foster healing and connection.
New archival records reveal four student death dates and 14 additional names, preserving their stories and advancing truth-finding efforts. Reviews continue as the community honors and heals.

Fort Albany First Nation has launched GPR searches for unmarked graves at the former St. Anne’s Residential School, seeking answers, justice, and healing for Survivors and their community.
